Customer Service Representative
Missouri Rural Electric Cooperative seeks a full-time Customer Service Representative for their Palmyra Office. The Customer Service Representative must efficiently and accurately maintain all customer records; Receive payments and properly account for all money received; provide members with a professional and positive customer service experience; promote positive member and public relations; and provide clerical support as needed. The Customer Service Representative must be friendly, reliable, and trustworthy. It is critical that the Customer Service Representative possess a positive attitude, be a team player, and have polite telephone skills. Special projects and additional tasks assigned at the discretion of management.

Required Skills – excellent customer service skills, computer literacy, working knowledge of Microsoft Office, organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of basic math, ability to learn and understand the Cooperative’s mapping system.
Education/Experience – High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Degree or Certificate and/or one-year customer service experience is preferred.
Lifting Capacity – Must be able to lift 40 pounds
Other Requirements – The successful candidate must pass the customer service and computer literacy tests administered by Missouri Rural Electric Cooperative.
This is a non-union position with an excellent benefits package. The successful candidate must pass an initial substance screening and, as an employee, can be subject to drug/controlled substance screenings.

Office Manager/Manager of Finance and Accounting

Missouri Rural Electric Cooperative seeks a full-time Office Manager/Manager of Finance and Accounting for their 5300-meter system. This position is the Chief Financial Officer of the organization and supervises a department of five people.  The position is responsible for overseeing all financial functions of the cooperative.  Position reports directly to the General Manager.  A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.  A CPA designation and experience with a rural electric cooperative is preferred.  Must be an excellent communicator and willing to learn all software associated with the position.

Job Description: The Office Manager/Manager of Finance and Accounting is responsible for planning, developing and administering all aspects of Missouri Rural Electric Cooperative’s general accounting and financial functions to maintain its position as a competitive provider of electric services.  This position also assists the General Manager in maintaining Missouri Rural Electric Cooperative’s competitiveness now and in the future.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the financial activities including consumer and general accounting, financial planning, banking, insurance and taxes. Ensures that all internal and external financial reports are completed as scheduled; Reviews monthly accounting reports for accuracy and ensures compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for keeping a systematic set of administrative and financial records. Prepares reports and financial statements and projections.
  • Coordinates the Cooperative’s budgeting process, and recommends budgets to the General Manager and Board of Directors for approval.
  • Supervises the preparation of consumer billing, application of rate schedules, penalties, payments, balancing of accounts, cash receipts, and customer inquiries/complaints.
  • Coordinates the annual audit by the independent auditing firm.
  • Directs timely and accurate preparation of all reports that our lenders require; prepares monthly reports for the Board of Directors and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Directs and supervises direct reports in a manner that promotes a safe working environment, productive employees, and satisfied members.
  • Acts as the Benefits Administrator for the cooperative.
  • Interfaces with personnel from all departments, including the General Manager and Board of Directors.
  • Within the parameters of policy, GAAP, lender requirements, and regulatory requirements, this position has latitude and independence to solve problems and make decisions for the Financial and Accounting Department.

Missouri Rural Electric Cooperative is a distribution cooperative serving the counties of Marion, Monroe, Ralls, Lewis, and Shelby in Missouri.  Missouri Rural provides power to 5300 meters through 1100 miles of line.  There are currently 26 employees and is governed by a nine-member board of directors.  The company is headquartered in Palmyra, Missouri.
